What this is

Olivehush is not a kennel. It's not a hotel with branded bandanas. It's a working olive estate on the Ligurian hillside — 60 hectares of terraced groves, dry stone walls, and sea air — where we take exactly one dog at a time.

We don't take groups. We don't stack bookings. Your dog has the full run of the property, with someone present who has spent years practicing the art of unhurried attention.

The estate sits above Rapallo, enclosed and secure. Olives, paths, terraces. The sea visible between the trees. No traffic. No strangers.

Available for stays of 3 nights minimum. Best suited for dogs who are used to space.

The perimeter is secure. The terrain is varied — level paths, gentle slopes, stone terraces, shaded groves. Good for explorers and good for dogs who prefer to think before they move.

The sea is visible on clear days. The silence is consistent.

I live and work on this estate year-round. This is not a side business run by rotating staff. Your dog stays in a quiet, private environment with one consistent human presence — the same person, every day.

I am also a practitioner of Dzogchen, a contemplative discipline rooted in sustained, non-reactive attention. It shapes the pace of this place. I will watch your dog the way I watch the land — present, consistent, without needing anything back from the experience.

Many dogs seem to settle into that rhythm quickly. I think it has something to do with the absence of performance.

Before you book
Where exactly is the estate? +
The estate is located in the hills above Rapallo, on the Ligurian Riviera — approximately 10 minutes from the town centre. Exact address and access instructions are provided after booking confirmation.
Is the land fully enclosed? +
The estate is fenced and gated, with access controlled by the caretaker. Dogs move freely within the property, not beyond it.
Where does the dog sleep? +
Inside, with the caretaker. Your dog is not housed in an outdoor kennel or separate building. Sleeping arrangements are discussed during the intro call based on your dog's habits.
Which dogs are not a good fit? +
Dogs with severe separation anxiety, strong escape drive, or a history of aggression toward humans. We are not set up for intensive behavioural management. If in doubt, the intro call will clarify quickly.
What documentation is required? +
Up-to-date vaccination records are required before arrival. For dogs travelling internationally, EU pet passport or equivalent documentation must be in order. We do not manage customs or import procedures.
What happens in case of illness or emergency? +
A veterinary clinic is available in Rapallo, 10 minutes away. You will be contacted immediately in any situation requiring a decision. Emergency protocols and your vet contacts are collected before the stay begins.
